Endless selfies, YouTube videos, facebook live, instagram story and posts. A world where we are constantly posting where we have been, what we ate, the clothes we wear, popular memes, the things we do with friends. It hits the timeline and then ….lost by another post. It’s there to go back to but then it truthfully fades in the background.
Many of our posts are the same! Same sexy poses, food plates repeated, outfits that were something to talk about one season but then outdated the next. “Having wine” again. “Going to the movies”. Doing this, did that. And WHO CARES!?
Follow me I’ll follow back! Like my last post and I will like 5 of your posts! Such and such unfollowed me and so I must unfollow them. Post something just for a like. Look cool and blend in because this is what people want to see!
I started to become this guy! And there is nothing necessarily wrong with it. However, I started thinking what of me am I really sharing and is it truly who I am? Why do I care about how many likes I get. Why do I constantly look at how many followers I have. Who really cares about the great food I ate on a layover. Who will really remember what I did for New Years? What mark in life do I leave by just posting things that people will click like or comment on?
It begins to feel empty and then you lose a bit of yourself and the whole purpose you have in life. It’s much more than just likes and comments and shares!
Think of even artist! Even they don’t just stick to their main talent. They become philanthropist, use their platforms to raise awareness to charities, inspire, write books, become endorsers of products. Venture into other forms of artistry. Speak at events. You name it!
I’ve recently found my passion for inspiring and I do it in every post. Whether it’s my keystyle posts, my layover “change clothes” videos. My keynotes and my personal memes that I come up with. I make sure that every post is true to me! I don’t get many likes, I do get a share here or there, comments are random and sometimes never at all. What matters is I know that I am sharing who I am 100 percent without worrying how it is perceived or accepted. I incorporate my silly ways, my dancing, acting, putting all emotion into even a photo. Only to share ME and the inspiration within! Life truly is not a popularity race. It’s not about how many followers you have but that the few that you have are impacted by who you are. It’s what will BE Remembered!
I want to encourage everyone to take their talents and share them in social media but also off of social media! Don’t post an outing to show how fabulous of a time you had but how you made connections and enjoyed life! How you inspired the people you came across in your day! Don’t get me wrong show that you are fabulous as well but make sure it all has a purpose and will leave a mark when you are gone! Find your own trend! Your own signature. Your legacy! Make a difference in the world by inspiring everyone else to do the same.
Imagine social media being the same posts over and over again. Same outfits, people going to the same places, eating the same foods, sexy duck lip poses, half nude photos over and over again. Boring right and forgettable. Wait, I just described 80 percent of social media accounts. Lol no shade. All truth! Find your own thing and run with it and worry not about who is into it today but who will remember it for years to come! BE Remembered! For your greatness, your courage, your loving ways, your adventurous personality, your silliness, for how fun you are, how real you are! Let your opinions be known, speak your truths. Live your life. But truly do it genuinely and BE true to you! Seriously, remember YOU for who you are and don’t change to conform or blend ! This way YOU will always BE Remembered!
BElieve, BE Free, BE YOUtiful… BE!
